Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson and the YWCA Orange County have been the sponsoring organizations for this event for the 21 years it has been honoring women in Orange County. The Tribute honors the women of Orange County for their accomplishments, their contributions and their service to business, industry, volunteerism and their profession. They must live, work, or go to school in Orange County and support the missions of the Girl Scouts and the YWCA in their everyday lives.
The honorees are not necessarily the women whose names you would recognize, but rather they are women who have had an impact on the lives of women and girls – their neighbors, co-workers, the community or their industry. They are the women who make Orange County a better place to live, work and go to school.
Congratulations to the 2012 Honorees!

Ginny Rizzo, Chairperson of the 2012 Orange County Tribute to Women of Achievement event committee, is proud to announce that Retired Brigadier General Rebecca Halstead will be the keynote speaker for the 2012 Tribute to Women annual awards dinner on Wednesday, May 9, 2012.
General Halstead is a 1981 graduate of the United States Military Academy and achieved an historic milestone as the first female graduate of West Point to be promoted to General Officer. She was the senior Commanding General for logistics in Iraq, and was the first female in U.S. history to command in combat at the strategic level. In this capacity she was responsible for leading more than 200 multi‐disciplined units (20,000 military and 5,000 civilians) located across 55 different bases, providing supply, maintenance, transportation, and distribution support to more than 250,000 personnel serving in Iraq. Visit www.beckyhalstead.com for a complete biography.
“We are exceptionally proud to welcome General Rebecca “Becky” Halstead back to Orange County to be a part of the Girl Scout/YWCA’s 20th anniversary Tribute to Women of Achievement celebration,” said Ms. Rizzo. “She is an incredibly enthusiastic speaker who truly understands what it takes to succeed in a challenging work environment.
